Ms. Shalini Bassi

Course Coordinator
Ms Shalini Bassi is working as Consultant-Health Promotion Division at the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and holds a Master degree in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition. Ms. Bassi has been working in the area of health promotion and health advocacy and has actively contributed to the research, health promotion, health advocacy and communication activities, particularly on tobacco control. She is actively engaged in public health as an researcher, trainer and advocate. Much of her work has been on development, implementation, management and evaluation of community and school-based interventions for chronic disease prevention in India. She has considerably contributed in developing public health advocacy skills among youth through various community and school-based interventions. She has extensive experience of developing Information, Education & Communication (IEC) material and other advocacy material to sensitize youth, teachers, parents, community members and other stakeholders on issues related to prevention and control of NCDs. She has published her work in peer-reviewed national and international journals. Ms. Bassi have also received extensive opportunities of working closely with the various Government Ministries and civil society organizations on research and advocacy related to prevention and control of NCDs, particularly on its major risk factors. She has completed various training/programmes in Public Health. She is also the Course Coordinator for the course on Promoting Adolescent Health and Development in Low and Middle Income Countries, collaboratively organized by PHFI, World Health Organization, Regional office for South-East Asia & London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), UK. The course aims to equip the participants with the knowledge, conceptual frameworks and tools necessary to strengthen and develop their capacity for managing health sector policies and programmes for adolescent health and development.
